Anja Rellstab

Secondary school teacher and Consultant

Anja is a consultant with Special Networks and teacher working in London. She completed her PGCE at the University of Manchester after having completed her BSc in Physics at UCL. As a neurodivergent teacher Anja has had a passion for advocacy since she was a pupil in secondary school where she went through most of her education without much support from her own teachers.

Anja started a YouTube channel to explain her way of seeing the world to a wider audience and it has over time become a community where people can share their own experiences too. Since creating the channel, Anja has expanded her advocacy to giving talks on autism to university students and teachers. She has also taken steps to improve representation of neurodiversity in the media, especially autistic girls, by collaborating with authors, publishers and screenwriters.

Anja has found her own experiences valuable in identifying barriers people might experience when accessing or engaging with products, services and environments and how to then make adjustments accordingly. Recent projects include developing training for the largest special educational needs training provider in the UK and editing a series of books around mental heath and neurodiversity aimed at children and young people, for one of the largest global consumer book publishers.
